The First FSRU in Indonesia is Ready to Operate

JURONG - The first receiving terminal and LNG regasification in Indonesia is soon to be operating prior to the inauguration release of FSRU FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) Regas Satu from Jurong Shipyard, Singapore to Jakarta Bay.

The FSRU inauguration is done by the President Director of Utama PT Pertamina (Persero) Karen Agustiawan as the Chief Commissioner of PT Nusantara Regas, operator FSRU Regas Satu. Attended the event was Government Board of Directors in environment, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, BP Migas, BPH Migas, Pertamina Board of Commissioners, Pertamina Board of Directors, PGN, and Nusantara Regas, as well as the management of Total E&P Indonesie.

President Director of Pertamina Karen Agustiawan expressed the completion of FSRU Regas Satu was an initial steps towards the facility operations of LNG receiving terminal known as FSRU West Java Project. FSRU West Jawa Project is scheduled to be operating gradually in May 2012.

"The inauguration of FSRUis one of the important steps towards the operation of the first FSRU in Indonesia. This facility will go through cooling down & commissioning stage in late April and is expected to be commercially operated in May 2012," Said Karen Agustiawan.

FSRU West Java will be a milestone for addressing the needs of domestic gas. With the capacity of maximum 3 million metrics ton LNG per year, FSRU can supply gas for PLTGU Muara Karang and PLGTU Tanjung Priok for 400 MMSCFD.

"With this FSRU, in the initial stage Nusantara Regas can fulfill its commitment of gas supply to PLN with the capacity of 1,5 million ton LNG per year," he said.

FSRU will be operated by Nusantara Regas, subsidiary of Pertamina and PGN with stock composition of 60% owned by Pertamina and 40% owned by PGN. FSRU West Java obtained LNG supply from Bontang for 11,75 million ton for 11 years.

FSRU West Java project is intended to support the government program to do energy diversification to overcome energy sustainability challenges in the near future. With FSRU, Nusantara Regas also can find another business potential development to increase and optimize the value of FSRU.

Domestic gas demand in 2008 has reached about 2.000 MMSCFD. In 2020, the potential of domestic gas demand will soar up to 4.500 MMSCFD which mainly triggered by the growth of needs in power plants, fertilizer industry, transportation and household.
